HART PERRY COMMUNITY ROWING CENTER
After two decades of launching from dock space graciously provided by the Mystic Seaport, Stonington Crew will soon have a place to call home. The Hart Perry Community Rowing Center (HPCRC) will safely store the team's equipment and serve as the team's strength and conditioning facility.

The center will also offer new community programs such as adult competitive, adult recreational, middle school and adaptive rowing programs. The Hart Perry Community Rowing Center will feature:

  • A boat bay on the ground floor for Stonington Crew
  • An adjacent boat bay for community rowing programs
  • A common area on the second floor for indoor training and associated services

With the unanimous support of residents in September of 2016, an idyllic site has been secured by the Town of Stonington. Located off Greenmanville Avenue, the Mystic River Boathouse Park will offer the public scenic views of and boating access to the Mystic River. Part of the property will serve as the permanent home of the Hart Perry Community Rowing Center, honoring the many contributions he made to the sport of rowing.

Hart Perry is regarded as one of American rowing’s true patriarchs. Hart was a resident of North Stonington, CT for many years and was one of the most influential figures in rowing in the United States and abroad. Hart passed away in 2011 but not before leaving an indelible mark on the sport. He was a rower, coach, promoter and crew advocate. Hart helped inaugurate numerous youth rowing programs over the years, including Stonington Crew.
